Three Turkeys for Dave!

Below are pictures of three turkeys that Dave Mehlenbacher of Crystal River, Florida got recently.  Dave is a self-employed hunting guide and it looks like he really made a great turkey season for himself.  My congrats to Dave in our great wild outdoors.  A job well done!

Holy Piggie!

This wild boar was taken in Newman, Western Australia.  A lot of bacon for sure!  Looking forward to getting me a wild hog one day in the Mississippi Delta - maybe half that size, I hope! 

Look Who’s Boss

Here's a great action shot of a boss gobbler, "showing a jake who was in charge," as John puts it. Interestingly, over the past weekend, I watched from my blind as the big strutting tom I was attempting to coax closer was run off by two over-sized jakes with attitudes. The two jakes continued to patrol the area, disrupting my efforts to call in a tom. Next year, I vowed, I will take care of one of them.

Hunter Catches Bird

A bird in the hand is worth, well, in this case it’s worth 2,000 belly laughs, and for a couple of reasons. First, a quail hunter uses his bare hand to catch a quail that inexplicably flew directly at him, and it was caught on video. Second, the video is posted in the most unlikeliest of places: A church’s YouTube channel among gospel messages. We found out why, but first, check out this incredible video of Senior Pastor Matt Carter making an amazing catch while on a quail hunting trip with NFL quarterback Colt McCoy in South Texas:

Deer @ Wal-Mart?

They say you can get almost anything at Wal-Mart, but the Game Commission says one man took it too far. The Indiana County district attorney says the man chased a deer through the parking lot, firing shots, and ran across Old Route 22 to bag his kill.
